Pilai Beach

Pilai Beach is just 8 minutes drive from Sarasin Bridge, the entrance to Phuket island. It is a gorgeous golden sand beach on the Andaman coast. Behind the beach is unspoiled forest scenery.

Although near Phuket, Pilai has a very different feel to Phuket. It is not a built up area, nor does it have a raucous nightlife. Rather there are a few resorts along the beach suitable for those looking for rest and relaxation.

In the Pilai area you can also find a few local restaurants and shops. As with the neighboring beach of Natai, it is an area that has caught the interest of property developers as land is cheaper and the amenities and facilities of Phuket are close. For those who like quiet beaches, now is the time to visit Pilai before it becomes a 'hot' destination. The nearest golf course is just 10 minutes away at Thai Muang.

Pilai Beach is famous for its turtles. In February it is possble to see turtles come up the beach and lay their eggs. In April visitors are treated to the spectacle of the eggs hatching and the babies making their dangerous first journey to the sea.
